What is SOAR Camp?
SOAR (Student-Centered, Open-Minded, Active, and Reflective) Camp is a professional development program for in-service teachers of English sponsored by the Regional English Language Office (RELO) of the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta.
During the 9-day camp, selected participants will enrich their professional capabilities by exploring effective instructional approaches and practicing using innovative English teaching tools in an engaging, interactive format with highly qualified trainers from Indonesia and the United States.
When and where will the program be held?
The camp is scheduled for January 2-12, 2019 in Nusa Dua, Bali.
Qualified candidates should:
• Be a citizen of and reside in Indonesia or Timor Leste at the time of the camp;
• Be an English teacher currently teaching in middle school or high school level (SMP, SMU/SMK, madrasah, pesantren, etc.) in Indonesia or Timor Leste;
• Have taught English for NOT less than 5 years and NOT more than 10 years;
• Be motivated and committed to improving their teaching skills;
• Have permission from the principal/head master of their home institution to participate in the camp;
• Be willing to share their learning in a discussion, roundtable, or presentation at their home institution upon the completion of the SOAR Camp. Instructions and guidelines will be provided by the Regional English Language Office, U.S. Embassy Jakarta;

• Obtain a reference form or permission letter from your school principal and attach it in the online application form.
• Nominations are due by Monday, November 19, 2018 at 4PM Western Indonesian Time (WIB). After that, the online form will not be accessible.
