TIPS JITU RANCANG MOTLET (MOTIVATION LETTER)

Salah satu persyaratan dokumen penting untuk apply beasiswa adalah motivation letter, atau biasa kita sebut Motlet. Sebenarnya apa sih motlet itu? Mungkin bukan hal yang asing tapi yuk mari kita kenali lebih detail serta bagaimana merancang motlet yang tepat agar aplikasi beasiswamu bisa tembus.

Sebelumnya, mungkin para scholarship hunters khususnya pelamar LPDP pasti tahu apa itu personal statement & objective study, sering kita jumpai. Tapi apakah beda dengan Motlet?

Pada dasarnya Motlet merupakan kombinasi antara Personal Statement (PS) & Study Objective (SO). Jika teman-teman scholarship hunter faham keduanya, so kita tinggal saja melihat komposisi PS & SO dalam pembuatan Motlet. Namun, ada beberapa hal yang perlu kita garis bawahi
Simplenya coba lihat rumus dibawah ini.

1. Personal Statement konsepnya berbentuk Past to Present. Secara umum konten dari PS ini akan mencakup sisi personalia kita, siapa kita, status pekerjaan sekarang, apa saja yang telah dikerjakan, apa saja yang sedang dikerjakan, dan visi misi kedepan apa yang kita capai.
2. Study Objective berkonsep Present to Future. Konten pembahasannya pun jelas beda dengan PS, yakni seperti keingingan lanjut kuliah di jurusan apa, dimana, kenapa kuliah disitu, apa urgensinya kuliah dijurusan itu, lalu karir ke depan mau apa, apakah program yang akan kita ambil mendukung karir kita ke depan, serta kontribusi sosial apa yang akan kita berikan saat terjun ke masyarakat, seperti dibidang edukasi, ekonomi masyarakat dll.

Secara garis besar, langkap tepat untuk merancang motlet kurang lebihnya bercirikan seperti di bawah ini:

1. Biasaya ditulis dalam satu lembar A4 
2. Spasi 1 
3. Margin 3,3,3,3 
4. Konten berisikan bentuk past to future 
5. Terdiri atas 4 paragraphs

Uraian Per Paragraf

Untuk paragraph 1. Introduction, seperti :

1. Perkenalan singkat diri kita
2. Tujuan kita menulis motlet
3. Tonjolkan kemampuan kamu di beberapa baris pertama
4. Buat pembaca tertarik kepadamu 
5. Bagian ini menentukan apakah reviewer akan melanjutkan ke paragraf berikutnya atau menyisihkan motlet kita

• My name is Danang Sigit Widianto from Indonesia. I am the one bearing a great enthusiastic to recognize the new challenges, volunteering projects, internship, and also school exchange students. Involving this program, I firstly commit transforming ourselves before applying exchange programs, international conferences, youth camp, workshop, trainings, and national international competitions. As result, this is who I am now of being not only active students attending the classes but also competitive personals that vigorously seek the next level of our potentials. 

Paragraph ke 2 dari Motlet adalah what are you doing? ‘lagi ngapain aja sekarang’. Nah bagi kita yang KuPu, Kuliah Pulang, atau KePu, Kerja Pulang. Hidup hanya untuk diri sendiri pasti bingung saat menuli paragraph 2. Maka mulailah AKTIF memanfaatkan waktu untuk kerja secara professional ataupun kerja sosial. Secara garis besar paragraph ini bisa berisi 

1. Ceritakan apa saja yang sedang kita kerjakan 
2. Pastikan apa yang kita kerjakan ada kaitannya dengan jurusan yang akan kita ambil 
3. Atau apa yang kita kerjakan memberikan kita pengalaman yang mendukung penyelesaian rencana belajar kita 
4. Apa hasil dari kegiatan kita tersebut 

Berikut contohnya 

• Starting my rewarding accomplishment dedicated as the best graduate student in State University of Salatiga by the highest grade score of 3.91 out of 4.00 GPA. The next award, in 2018, I was also nominated as the scholarship awardee of ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations), India pursuing in Master Degree, I continue my abroad journey in Bollywood land. I feel so addicted, beside academic goals, to gain my deep intelligence to what I will be with numerous curiosity pursuing other experiences. I do look forward to contribute myself in India – Indonesia student organization or called as India-Indonesian Student Organization (PPI India). In addition, I also have been mandated as the Director of Communication in Radio PPI Dunia (Online Radio Broadcasting in www.radioppidunia.org) within the job description to handle some divisions such as Public Relation, Research, and Community relation. This becomes my basic experience to upgrade my self-capacity, and interconnecting to other relations around the world. I am also as the founder and initiator of online start-up related to the youth contribution and hope to pursue abroad scholarship, internship, student exchange or other various opportunities. Lanjut paragraph 3. Mau jurusan atau bidang apa, dan kenapa? Di paragraph ini kita mencoba menjelaskan hal-hal berikut 

1.  Jelaskan mengapa mengambil di program tersebut 
2. Adakah isu terkini yang bisa dikaitkan 
3. Tambahkan fakta dari referensi yang kita punya 

More or less contoh yang saya kasih hari ini isinya juga menggunakan referensi itu. Mungkin agak sedikit berbeda karena dipakai untuk mendaftar di forum internasional bukan ke kampus. Untuk motlet dengan tujuan daftar kampus guna lanjut study, bisa modifikasi sedikit. Intinya siap berkreasi.

• Based on the above reason, we are confident to challenge ourselves tasting Trendhim Scholarship 2019. I have several motivation to figure out my interest at being a part of Trendhim Scholarship as stated below: The first is (1) why i put my ideas toward participating in Trendhim Scholarship is due to the purpose of self-expansion as the key to open opportunities for learning betterment and boost the progressive quality in line with sharing ideas with global community, gaining more various model of solution ways, and building the talented as well as qualified personality for better oriented professionalism towards the matter of a passion for business, design, marketing and IT. The second (2) is generally speaking about the interest of business, design, marketing and IT. It will build a community project and being attracted to learn some dream of working in marketing, fashion, sales, IT, trade, or even management. This totally foreshadows also my interest towards the engagement of deeply capability in related fields, which is one of my dream is having an online start-up in educational projects to bridge all youth pursuing their dreams to get scholarship abroad. Later on, I hope this will have a collaboration with other start up and governmental institution in Indonesia, such as Ruangguru, Klikcoaching and others which is still in line with the topic of sustainable development to boost the educational sector in Indonesia.

Lanjut paragraph 4. Tentang rencana masa depan setelah kuliah selesai atau setelah mengikuti program dan dilanjut closing statement. Di paragraph 4 ini kira-kira isinya seperti berikut :

1. Jelaskan apa yang ingin dikerjakan setelah lulus nanti 
2. Pastikan rencana tersebut masuk akal 
3. Bisa dikaitkan dengan bagian paragraf ‘What are you doing’ 
4. Atau membuat rencana baru yang sesuai dengan jurusan yang diambil (optional)

Contoh singkatnya dibawah ini 

• We strongly believe that extraordinary experiences awaits in Trendhim Scholarship. By taking this application, I will hopefully have a better visual about the importance of the program and how it works. Instead of improving our capacity, this experience will be more advantageous when we can share it to our friends and colleagues in our organizations. Learning, inspiring, and replicating the knowledge to others will be our reflection to echo and spread our experience. We learn how to think globally during the summit, but further we need to act locally starting from our contexts. All mentioned above hopefully represent my youth ideas why it is important to be a part of selected participant to discuss and purposely create the engaged platform to bring together with other representative ideas from many creative professional’s thought and I believe that encouraging others and their dreams is key to the future development of e-commerce, and we are excited to inspire up-and-coming star through being a part of Trendhim Scholarship.
